It is what it is. If you're hoping to enjoy world-class food in a nondescript restaurant south of Akron, Ohio, you're barking up the wrong tree. You can achieve that goal, but you'll need to Google the phrase "Barberton Chicken" first.

Farmer Boy is a local restaurant aimed at the Denny's-Golden Corral crowd: seniors living in farm country whose tastes run to meat and potatoes, and plenty of it. It's a casual sit-down restaurant that server diner-quality meals.

It's easy to get good food here if you bear that in mind and don't ask the kitchen to stretch. Breakfasts are excellent. Sandwiches are fine, as long as you don't mind frozen patties.

Dinner specials like swiss steak, pork chops, roast turkey or the "all you can eat" fish fry are all well-made. Order cog au vin or chicken marsala and you deserve what you get.

The desserts, which are made locally, are superb. Usually I don't have room because the portions are huge. Service is slow because it's usually packed.

Boy, I'm glad Grandma doesn't have Internet access. She gets worked up about stuff like a bread basket or a tuna melt with crisp french fries and would be crushed to know I don't live this place as much as she does.

Great food, huge portions!. Ive been here a few times. Each visit was pleasant. I was promptly seated and all the staff was courteous and friendly.

The food is simple and tasty. If you like clam chowder, I would definitely recommend going here on Friday, when the chowder is freshly made by the chef. Friends of mine have raved about the all-you-can-eat fishfry on Friday nights, also. If you have children, the portions will amaze you....they are huge(especially good for the older children who eat more than the really little ones)....and the price is right! You really get more for your money.
