Sigh - walk across the street to Vegeterrainian. Came here a few times after moving to Akron. Its mediocre and overpriced at best. I know its a legend and all you NE Ohio folks are SO loyal to your places and points of pride. But really this pizza is mediocre at best. Not that Akron is a hub for great pizza but sheesh. The staff is rude every time which is SO odd for NE Ohi - coming from the East coast a point of true love for Ohio is how friendly polite and helpful people can be. Maybe the place is a tough place to work but it was very hard wach time not to get "my philly up" and read some people. Skip it - until they start trying harder.…
Oh the salad!. Have been living in germany for several years, but make sure every time I'm back home to stop in ... most of the time with a few non-ohioans in tow. I wear my 'if lost please return to luigis' tshirt with pride, and now a number of my freinds over here understand why!…
not good. I lived my whole life in akron so i've been to luigi's countless times. The cheese salad is the best. Everything else on menu (and i've had everything) is very "ok" and this is how everyone else i know feels also. The meatballs might be the worst I've ever had, and luigi's is famous in Akron ...but it's also famous for making you go straight to the bathroom.…
Food and tradition. People eat at Luigi's for two reasons: the food and the tradition. As an Akron icon, Luigi's has been a favorite of both locals and tourists for years. The wall is covered with pictures of celebrity diners. The food is amazing. My wife and I have driven far out of our way to swing by Luigi's. And the price is pretty reasonable. Now the bad news: the service is sub-par, waiting for a table can be painful (no lobby), and parking is abysmal (although somewhat better lately). Still, if you're in Akron for the first time, you must try Luigi's. It's practically a requirement!…
Yummy salads!. The salad dressing is simple oil and vinegar yet is so good. Don't bother getting a salad unless you splash out extra for the cheese. The pizza is too crusty for me (I'm a thin crust gal) so sometimes I get the lasagna; it usually takes four or five forkfuls to break through the cheese layer to get to the pasta. Yum. Other times I get perfectly done french fries with a side of mozzarella sticks. Hey, I get a salad too so it's healthy, right?…
