Tips for Humane Society-Greater Akron

November 29, 2012

Please do read the review posted on June 14, 2011, by teliz21. It doesn't take long to realize that these people failed to provide the 'forever home' they promised Blake when they adopted him. Blake is the name of the dog teliz21 writes about. Unfortunately, the Humane Society works hard, but they aren't able to read minds and see the honest intentions of dog owners any better than you or I. I hope that the concept of making a commitment to care for an animal (or a human being) has found a home in the heart of Blake's would-be family. Imagine the heart-ache Blake suffered when he was returned to the Humane Society by the family who promised to give him a happy 'forever home.'

As a volunteer for HSGA, this organization truly cares about animals. The level of care and commitment the staff and volunteers exhibit is amazing. HSGA will ensure that you find the perfect pet for your lifestyle and personality. This place is awesome! The experience that the previous reviewer had is not common at all and I suspect is somewhat subjective.

HORRIBLE place, horrible people.. my fiance and i were looking for a dog at the time to share the experience together. We found a dog named Blake at greater Akron humane society, rude rude rude everytime we called and everytime we talked to someone on the phone about how to go adopting a dog that we liked there. They gave us the information about a week later, and told us it would be 99 $ the day of adoption we get there and we live all the way in beavercreek ohio, well ..since the 3 hr drive didnt matter to them..it took us a 30 min wait to even see if we were proper enough looking for them to allow us to go for a walk with him ..Well we finally got him after us being judged .. and had a " trial " home to see if it would work out ..well we loved him so much and family issues came up and it was to the point where we called them numerous amounts of times to ask how we go about bringing him back and where he wouldnt get put to sleep , they assured us that wasnt going to happen and they dont do that ..well the dog wasnt aggressive best dog smart sweet lovable!! and we brought him all the way back they immediately took him we couldnt even say goodbye and were rude we 1000000% ..the people their are heartless and rude especially the top lady named Kristen, unreal how heartless and rude she was everytime we'd call they'd ignore our phone calls it was 4 months later when we got told they had put our dear boy to sleep! we couldn't believe it ..its just sad these animals are fighting for their life and the people are just as sick at greater humane society as the cruel people that put the animals in there to begin with.
